Lake Faak
Turquoise, clear and with the Mittagskogel as a backdrop – Lake Faak is our nearest swimming lake. Ideal for a spontaneous dip after a hike.

Lakes & swimming in Carinthia
Up the mountain in the morning, into the lake in the afternoon, at the barbecue in the evening: from Schlatten, Carinthia's most beautiful swimming lakes are just a short drive away. And if it rains, the indoor pool is waiting in the house.
Our favourite day

Early in the morning
Start early and you will have the Karawanks almost to yourself and reach the summit before the midday heat. The Frauenkogel or the Kosiak are ideal morning hikes – by lunchtime you are back down.

In the afternoon
After the hike the lake feels twice as good. In about a quarter of an hour you are at Lake Faak or Lake Wörthersee. With the Wörthersee-Plus Card, included with your stay, you swim for free at 10 lidos on Lake Wörthersee. Our tip: paddle a stand-up paddle board out to the small reed islands.

In the evening
Back at the house, the barbecue with seating is waiting in the courtyard. The day ends over grilled food while the Karawanks glow in the evening light. The children play on the meadow, the adults are already planning the next day.

And if it rains?
A rainy day is never a lost day here. The heated indoor pool and the Finnish sauna are for our guests only and included in the price – ideal in spring and autumn too, when the lakes are still cool.
The lakes nearby
Carinthia's lakes are known for their clear water and become pleasantly warm in high summer. Our tips around the Rosental:

Carinthia's best-known lake, with many lidos, boat trips and the little church of Maria Wörth. With the Wörthersee-Plus Card, entry to 10 lidos is free.

Small Lake Aichwald (Aichwaldsee) is considered one of the last unspoilt natural swimming lakes in Carinthia – quiet, with a lido built of larch wood. And the Drava river flows right through the Rosental: ideal for a bike ride on the Drava Cycle Path R1 or a paddling trip.
When is swimming time?
The lakes are still cool and the mountains often still snow-capped. Now the indoor pool in the house is your swimming lake – and you have the lidos almost to yourself on a walk.
High season at the lake: warm water, long evenings and the barbecue in the courtyard. Hike early and swim in the afternoon to get the best of both.
In September the lakes are quieter and the water is often still pleasant. When it gets cooler, simply switch to the indoor pool and sauna.
Lake Faak is about 10 km away, Velden on Lake Wörthersee about 12 km. By car you are at the water in about a quarter of an hour.
